Places of origin for persons are instead catalogued in the index category surnames etc., under provenances.

The principal urban work sites of the Opera (cathedral, clergy's residence, papal apartments in Santa Maria Novella) are treated exclusively in the topic category destinations under Topics1. Sites dislocated in the territory (quarries, forests, fortifications) are indexed both in places and destinations.
