Description of the archival unit

Descriptive title: Quaderno di cassa (cash book)
Original title: "Quaderno di cassa tenuto per Nicholò di Lucha degli Albizi camarlingho de l'Opera per sei mesi inchominciati a dì primo di luglio MCCCCXXXV"
Terminal dates: 1435 July 1 - December 31
Physical description: register, squarish format, 289x217mm, bound with parchment covered boards with leather reinforcements on the spine and closed by two cloth ribbons. The volume consists of 2-101 paper leaves with coeval numeration, of which c. 29 is missing, plus front and back leaves in cardboard and, in the position of c. 1, unnumbered, the original parchment front cover. A smaller sheet containing two accounts, transcribed as acts 19bisa and 19bisva, is bound in the volume between cc. 19v-20 e 28v-30. The book further presents 4 small unbound sheets with calculations and notes placed between cc. 28v-30, 64v-65, 70v-71 e 97v-98. A bis numeration with respect to the page after which these leafs are found has been attributed to them, but since they do not constitute acts, they are simply described in notes to the accounts to which they refer. The images of these loose pages are accessible from the links provided here below (cf. Access to images of loose pages).

Notice concerning page numbering

Technical programming considerations have made it necessary to adapt the numbering system of the "Venetian style" double entry bookkeeping, which attributes the same number to left and right hand entries of the open pages, to the system used for all the other sources in this edition, with recto and verso numeration of each folio. As a result, the entries, regularly cited by the scribe with the number assigned to the right hand folio as referring to both facing pages, are identified in the digital edition with the number of the first verso page, causing a slippage of one unit between the original and modern citation. For example, a scribal reference to c. 10 corresponds to the acts cited in the edition on cc. 9v-10.
