Description of the archival unit

Descriptive title: Bastardello di stanziamenti (allocations)
Terminal dates: 1430 July 4 - 1436 December 27
Physical description: register, tall narrow format, 411x142 mm, bound with parchment covered boards with leather reinforcements, consisting of 143 paper leaves. The first leaf, c. 1, is blank except for the annotation of the archival collocation and the terminal years in modern hand. From c. 40, the modern numeration runs one unit ahead of the original numbering, which had ascribed 39 to two successive leaves. A recent rebinding has inserted c. 128 (modern num. 113) between c. 111 (mod. 112) and 112 (mod. 114), causing a discrepancy of two units between the two numerations up to c. 129 mod. The discrepancy then reverts to one unit until the duplication of the coeval c. 132 causes a new difference of two units from c. 134 mod. through the end, 143 mod. The citations are to the modern numeration.
Conservation: The register shows evident traces of water damage (1966 flood), with consequent discoloration of ink, particularly severe on cc. 4-4v, 8v-9, 16v-33v, 38v, 41-41v, 45-49v, 55-56v, 65-76, 80-81, 115v, 128v-129, 138-138v. The cover is a modern restoration.
Language: vernacular
Persons accountable: wardens of the Opera of Santa Maria del Fiore
Scribes: the Opera administrators who succeeded each other in time:

cc. 32-74 - Bartolomeo d'Agnolo Ciai from 30 April 1432 to 30 aprile 1434 (in office from 1 January 1422/3 through 31 December 1423 and from 30 April 1432 through 30 April 1434)
cc. 74v-95v - Gualterotto di Jacopo Riccialbani from 5 May 1434 to 8 April 1435 (in office from 5 May 1432 through 31 December 1436; substituted from 22 April through 12 September 1435)
